Summary

Gavin is a very rich man - a famous artist whose paintings sell for millions. He has everything he wants in life except for the love of his son. He has spent the last twenty years trying to have a reconciliation with Peter, hoping that one day he will forgive him, or at least understand why he had to desert his family so suddenly. Fearing that time is running out, Gavin asks Anna, his beautiful muse, to deliver a notebook to Peter. It reveals Gavin's most intimate thoughts and also his fears. When they meet at Gavin's funeral, Peter becomes as obsessed as Anna as his father was, and wonders about the nature of their relationship - were Anna and Gavin just good friends, or were they also lovers? Meanwhile she cannot stop thinking about Peter. He is just as she imagines Gavin would have been had she known him when he was a young man and in his prime.
